Audi is
seen by many Territories have no directly related to street, the German company
committed technology cars and embarks on special - in this case space -
projects, which give image, but also help to bring to fruition ideas, thanks to
its resources.
Where you
want to be on this occasion is on the Moon, its mission is to bring there a
vehicle type Rover, adapted to the characteristics of the satellite. But it
does not alone, rather it does supporting a project of a German group known as
part-time Scientists.
The
support has to do with the Lunar X Prize competition who set up the foundation
that bears the same name, with the sponsorship of the people of Google, and has
been standing since 2011. In a nutshell what is attempted is throw, reach the
Moon, operate a small rover on the surface for 500 meters, and send a video
from there. The prize for the best are 30 million dollars.
As you can
see in the images, the rover vehicle already have appearance and shape. What
has to offer Audi is the technology of traction at all four wheels of the
House, better known as Quattro, as well as the knowledge they have in light and
resistant materials, and electric motors.
Part-time
Scientists team is having luck with the associations that make, the Audi be
added the support of Nvidia, and German institutions such as the Technical
University of Berlin, or Germany Aerospace Center.
In terms
of the time of route, they pose that they could get it in 2017, later than
other teams competing as Astrobotic or Hakuto, which could make it the coming
year.
Already we
have spoken on other occasions of companies of the automotive industry who are
interested in issues of space, the most recent case we have it with Nissan,
which works closely with NASA in the creation of vehicles similar to the
protagonist of our story.
